My name is David L. Tran. I’m a second-year medical student from the UC Irvine School of Medicine. I love going on adventures and writing about them.
This blog will chronicle my trip to Vietnam for the summer of 2011. I will be shadowing in a hospital in Hanoi for three weeks before spending a week traveling through the entire country, top to bottom. With the help of the university, I will be blogging about the experience via iPad through pictures, video, and written blogs.

Hi! I’m Cassidy Vuong, also a second-year who is determined to enjoy my last summer ever.
This is my first-ever trip to Vietnam, and I’m luckily in the care of two veterans who will help me with my Vietnamese speaking skills and with navigating through the unfamiliar territories of a third-world country.
Instead of my usual detailed itineraries and go-go-go travel personality, I am taking a step back this trip and just going with the flow: taking in every person, every sight, every sound, every meal before life gets hectic again.

Hey everyone, my name is Nguyen T. Nguyen and I’ll be joining Cassidy and Dave at 108 Hospital. In this new setting, I’m looking to broaden my language and communication skills, while fully immersing myself in the human health experience. With my first year of medical school behind me, I want to make real the foundation of physiology, anatomy, and histology that I so painfully acquired.
Outside of the hospital, this is my second visit to Vietnam and I hope to fully re-experience the culture, the people and the food. Follow my journey as I taste and shop my way through the city!

Hi David & Thuy Vi, I am glad to hear from your guys after waiting for your e-mail, call and finally the best log ever seen with all information, pictures and your posts. We enjoy it and will not bother o call you to ask the details especially my wife is so worrying, a typical oriental mother. So we enjoy reading as a travel novel each morning here (PST) and you are ready to go to bed and before that you may have time to post some interesting things.
